TSANSAI
BRIEF/PROCESS

SCOPE OF WORK:  Logo Design

All-round super woman, "Tsansai" approached me to create an identity for her Tsansai brand, with a vision to have the brand be as dynamic and presentably unique as the woman behind it. There was no pre-existing logo or brand image, therefore no basis/benchmark of comparison.

I set about creating a mark that was: Dynamic, Bold, Creative, Stylish, Confident, Classy, and Unorthodox. The mark needed to be somewhat flexible, as the "Tsansai" brand would serve as an umbrella for several other endeavors, including a planned PR/promotional agency, a professional make-up service, and a soon-to-be launched charity organisation.

Because I had an idea of the linework I wanted, I quickly set about working out the shape and movement of the type, and how each letter would flow into and interact with the one beside it. Also, after some discussions, we decided it might make the mark more interesting if I included one or two symbols that were slightly subtle, but still stood out enough to compliment the mark, while graphically representing the brand's services.

Once I had the lettering worked out, I put them together and cleaned up the linework.

After being presented with the options, she fell in love with this one on first sight, as it immediately connected with her. I was hoping it would. She was specific about incorporating one colour in particular, and a quick discussion helped us settle on the additional colour.

Alt Version

She wanted an alternate colour version of the logo, with the colours reversed.
